Zeea absolutely loves sticks and picks them up on her walk; never the tiny sticks though the branch like ones that drag on the ground as she walks. So I though what would be a good toy, a stick, but not one that could have bugs inside 😉 . The solution the Nylabone DuraChew Hollow Stick. Zeea has never been fond of nylabones but this is supposed to smell like wood which I thought would be appealing. Well once the novelty wore off new that was it, on the plus though it had survived (for 3 months).
Recently though I decided to stuff it with some chicken and *tada* the toy is exciting again. So it the last three days she has still been showing interest, mainly because the toy still smelled like chicken, and a success the toy is still intact. The ends are a little worse for wear though and little pieces of scraped off plastic can be seen here and there. I am sure with enough chewing the whole toy would look like the end but that would take a long time (it won’t smell like chicken forever lol 😛 ).
Zeea has had nylon bones before or they do not last, she ‘eats’ the ends off and I end up taking it away so she doesn’t swallow the plastic. So if you are buying a nylabone I suggest look for a durachew and a nice thick plastic that has no bend. If you can bend the plastic it is most likely soft enough that your dog can chew through it.
